Enrichment Wednesdays
On a Wednesday afternoon, we split into house teams to enjoy a range of different enrichment activities. These activities aim to provide our pupils with opportunities to develop creativity and life skills, which may otherwise be lost in the everyday curriculum.
Here are our current activities for this term:
Cookery with Mrs Barks
Our school cook, Mrs Barks, helps us to bring delicious, healthy recipes to life, which we can try at home, to encourage us to lead a healthy lifestyle. While doing this, we practice our co-operative skills as we work as a group and our measuring skills. Our recipes have included; Veggie burgers, vegetable soup, smoothies and much more.
Crafts with Mrs Goldstraw
Mrs Goldstraw has been showing us lots of different techniques and styles of crafts which link with our topics. During our farming topic, we created farm animals and harvest foods out of salt dough. When we have been thinking about looking after our world, we have created recycled pieces of art.
Photography/ ICT with Miss Torr
With Miss Torr, we have been learning how to take a good photo, Thinking about the setting, angles and lighting. We have take photos of our surroundings using our Ipads before editing them. We have used the photos to create a school calendar which is on sale now. We have also been using Microsoft Publisher to create posters advertising our calendar and cards and postcards to sell.
We entered some of our photos into a competition with Entrust and we were lucky enough to win! Lucy's Halloween inspired photo gained 1st place, winning her a GoPro! Well done Lucy!
Some of the other children also won prizes for their entries.
Community Clean up with Mrs Stanesby
Mrs Stanesby's group have been cleaning up the village. Armed with litter pickers and bags, they have been picking up litter to look after our beautiful, local area and school grounds.
