Small school's Swimming Gala
On Tuesday 19th June, we travelled over to our neighbours at Waterhouses for their small schools swimming gala. We took 6 pupils from Year 2 to Year 4 and we achieved a great result! Our children won some of their races and we finished 3rd out of 9 schools in the competition! This has been our best tournament performance in a few years so a huge well done to all our fantastic swimmers :)

Athletics Tournament

On Wednesday 4th July our 8 of our children attended a Key Stage Two athletics event at St Edward’s Academy.

4 boys and 4 girls mixed from Year 2, 3 and4 all represented the school in the Long Jump, 600m run, 50m sprint, long throw and 4x50m relay. We won some of the events through the day with some tough competition and finished in the top half of schools that entered.

This will be the last sports event for our Year 4’s and they have been a credit to us. We wish them all the best and hope they continue their sport at Churnet View.

Hockey Tournament - 23rd May 2018

What a glorious day of sunshine and sport we had on Wednesday!

12 of our children competed in an inter-school Hockey tournament and it was a great chance to show off some of the skills we have been practicing every Tuesday lunchtime.

We had 3 teams of four with all competing against each other in the small schools group. All children had a fantastic time with each team playing six matches in total.

We managed to get draws and wins against the other schools and were unfortunate not to win our group with some late wins! Well done to all that took part and represented the school fantastically as always!

Tri-Golf

On Tuesday 24th April, what a pleasure it was to host a cluster school Tri-Golf festival for our Year 1 and Year 2 children. For the first time, we welcomed schools across the Staffordshire Moorlands schools including Beresford School, Leek First School and Waterhouses all taking part.

Our Year 4 sports leaders and Year 3 were fantastic in chaperoning each group, coaching the children from the other schools and we are so proud of the job they did in representing us and making all the children feel so welcome.

This is the first time the school has done such an event in our recent history and we will definitely be welcoming our friends back in the future for more sporting activity. All pupils showed fantastic improvement, endeavour and it was great to add something different to the cluster sporting programme. What a huge success, a massive well done to all our Year 1 and Year 2 children and we hope to have more schools back next year to take part.

Well done St Leonards
